Konkona Sen Sharma
Konkona Sen Sharma ( Bengali : কঙ্কনা সেন শর্মা , Kaṅkanā Sen Śarmā ; born December 3, 1979 in Kolkata , West Bengal ) is an Indian actress .
biography
Konkona Sen Sharma comes from a Bengali family who works in the film industry. Her grandfather Chidananda Dasgupta is a film critic, author and one of the founders of the Calcutta Film Society , her mother is the actress and director Aparna Sen .
Her actual film debut was in Ek Je Aachhe Kanya in 2000 , before that she only appeared sporadically as a child actress. After appearing in a Rituparno Ghosh film , she became known to a wide audience for her role in Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (2002), directed by her mother. Sen Sharma plays a young Tamil woman who saves a stranger Muslim from Hindu fanatics by pretending to be her husband. Her acting performance earned her a National Film Award for Best Actress. The subsequent films Page 3 and 15 Park Avenue again won her critical acclaim and awards. She plays a schizophrenic woman at 15 Park Avenue , with Shabana Azmi taking over the role of her caring sister . Her final breakthrough, also in German-speaking countries, came in 2007 with a leading role in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag - The Path of a Woman at the Side of Rani Mukerji , as well as Abhishek Bachchan , Jaya Bachchan and Anupam Kher .
In early 2007 Konkona Sen Sharma received a Filmfare Award for her supporting role in Omkara (2006) . She played her most recent leading role in Traffic Signal (2007).
She has been married to her co-star Ranvir Shorey since September 3, 2010. On March 15, 2011, she gave birth to a son at South Mumbai Hospital.
