Konrad Herrmann (theologian)
Konrad Herrmann (born July 19, 1929 in Gresonse (today: Dzierżążno) , Flatow district , West Prussia ; † November 30, 2017 in Zielona Góra , Poland ) was a Polish Roman Catholic clergyman .
biography
He was a student at the Polish grammar school in Marienwerder with Father Bolesław Domański , the then chairman of the Union of Poles in Germany . He was arrested on August 25, 1939, along with other high school students, and taken to the Tapiau camp near Königsberg .
After graduating from high school in 1950, he entered the seminary of the Administratur Zielona Góra-Gorzów in Landsberg an der Warthe . On June 5, 1955, he was ordained a priest . In 1957, administrator Teodor Bensch recommended him to study in Rome . Since the communist authorities refused to give him a passport, he studied at the Catholic University of Lublin , where he obtained a degree in moral theology. After completing his studies, he returned to Gorzów Wielkopolski and in 1963 became pastor of the Holy Trinity Parish and Dean. At the same time, he completed a master's degree in German at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
In 1969 he became pastor of the Most Holy Redeemer parish in Zielona Góra, which he led for 27 years. Here he devoted himself to Caritas and worked as a disabled chaplain in the society for the fight against disability . He founded the "Frater Albert" house and a hospice. He was a member and diocesan pastor in various associations, such as the Home Army , the underground teachers , the politically persecuted, the Bukovinians, the exiles from Siberia. He was an initiator and promoter of the arts and organized series of concerts in his church with the participation of artists from international folklore festivals. From 1968 to 1994 he was also a judge at the Diocesan Court in Gorzów Wielkopolski. In 1996 he resigned a large part of his offices for health reasons.
From 1992 to 2008 he was Episcopal Vicar , responsible for contacts with secular authorities. From 1993 to 2014 he was a member of the Council of Priests and the Episcopal College of Consultors.
