Konrad Niemeyer

Konrad Niemeyer (born May 14, 1829 in Greifswald ; † March 15, 1903 in Kiel ) was a German classical philologist and teacher .

Life

Niemeyer was born the son of a consistorial director. He graduated from high school in Greifswald in 1846 and then studied philology at the universities of Halle , Greifswald and Bonn . In Halle he was a member of the Corps Guestphalia , in Greifswald of the Corps Borussia . In 1851 he was in Greifswald with a working equitibus De Romanis Dr. phil. PhD. In the same year he passed the examination for the higher teaching post. After his probationary year at the pedagogy of the Francke Foundations in Halle, he became a scientific teacher there. In 1854 he got a position at the grammar school in Greifswald, in 1858 at the grammar school in Anklam . In 1862 he became head of the grammar school in Stargard (Pomerania) , in 1865 director of the municipal grammar school in Brandenburg (Havel) and in 1869 of the Kiel school of scholars . In 1890 he retired. On retirement he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class.
