Konrad Seling

Baltasar Konrad Seling (born April 21, 1878 in Osnabrück ; † January 1949 ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman and vicar general in Osnabrück .

Life

Seling was the son and the fifth of eight children of the sculptor Heinrich Seling (1843–1912) and Klara Maria Meyer (1842–1905). He attended the Carolinum grammar school in his home town of Osnabrück and studied theology at the University of Innsbruck and at the academy in Münster . On February 22, 1902 he received in the Cathedral of Osnabrueck the priesthood . From 1902 to 1905 he was a chaplain in Schwerin . He then went to Rome to continue his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University , where he received his doctorate in canon law . In 1907 Seling was appointed cathedral vicar and secretary of the Episcopal General Vicariate in Osnabrück. In 1927 he became a member of the cathedral chapter , vicar general and official . He got involved with the German Caritas Association , of which he was a member of the Central Council. At the beginning of 1949 he resigned from his offices. Seling was the papal house prelate and cathedral dean in Osnabrück. In this function, he particularly campaigned for the restoration of the cathedral, which was destroyed in the war. He was buried in the Johannisfriedhof in Osnabrück.

The street Selinghof was named after him in Osnabrück .
