Konrad Weiß from Limpurg

Konrad Weiss von Limpurg (also Conrad Weiss von Limpurg ; born October 10, 1536 in Frankfurt am Main ; † September 17, 1575 ibid) was a German humanist .

Life

White von Limpurg came from the patriciate of Frankfurt and is the son of councilor and mayor Georg Weiß von Limpurg zum Weißenfels (1506–1551). He attended the city's Latin school under Jakob Micyllus and then studied at the University of Basel and the University of Lausanne , where he was in 1558. In 1560 he received Frankfurt citizenship . He became one of the city's leading intellectuals. His house developed into a gathering point for the late humanists in Frankfurt, a circle around Johann Fichard .

Weiss was called poeta et vir doctus by his contemporaries . In contrast to his peers, he did not take on any tasks in the city administration.
