Konstantin Alexeyevich Nevolin ( Russian Константин Алексеевич Неволин , Ukrainian Костянтин Олексійович Неволін Kostyantyn Oleksijowytsch Nevolin ; born January 1 . Jul / 13. January  1806 greg. In Orlov , Vyatka Governorate , Russian Empire ; † October 6 jul. / 18th October  1855 greg. in Brixen im Thale , Austrian Empire ) was a Russian legal historian , professor and rector at St. Vladimir University in Kiev .

Life

Konstantin Newolin was born into a priestly family in Orlov and graduated from high school at the Theological Academy in Moscow in 1827 . From 1835 on, Newolin was a doctor of law and a full professor at the St. Vladimir University of Kiev, whose rector he was from May 1837 to March 1843. From 1843 to 1855 he headed the civil law department at the University of Saint Petersburg . At the same time he was lecturing at the Imperial Legal Institute. In 1847 he became vice rector and dean attorney at St. Petersburg University. In December 1853 he was elected a corresponding member of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences at the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature. In May 1855 he first visited Germany and then Austria to treat tuberculosis , where he died at the age of 49 in Brixen in Tyrol . His ashes were buried on May 25, 1856 in the Smolensk Cemetery in Saint Petersburg .
