Konstantin Fritsch (born December 25, 1857 in Sprottau , Sprottau District , Province of Silesia , † January 22, 1934 in Magdeburg , Province of Saxony ) was a Prussian administrative lawyer and President of the Reich Railway Authority .

Life

Konstantin Fritsch entered the Prussian railroad service in 1883 and from 1889 worked in the Prussian Ministry for Public Works in Berlin. In 1892 he joined the management of the Imperial Railways in Alsace-Lorraine to Strasbourg, where he was in 1893 member of the Imperial General Directorate of Railways in Alsace-Lorraine. In 1900, the dislocation followed as a lecturer advice to the National Board for the management of Imperial Railways to Berlin, where he as from January 1911 Secretary worked.

In May 1912, Fritsch took over the office of President of the Imperial General Directorate of the Railways in Alsace-Lorraine from Rudolf Schmidt, who was appointed Ministerial Director in the Ministry of Public Works in Berlin, taking over the management of the transport department at the railway administration. In contrast to his predecessor, whose field of work was more traffic and operational issues, Fritsch concentrated on general administration. During the entire duration of the First World War he worked closely with the army administration in order to manage the imperial railways in the war zone as an instrument of national defense.

On July 1, 1918, the appointment was made president of the Reich Railway Authority in Berlin at the presentation of the character as a Privy Councilor with the title of excellence as the successor to Michael Wackerzapp , which came from active service. With the transfer of the Reich Railway Office to the Reich Ministry of Transport in autumn 1919, Fritsch retired.

On his 75th birthday he received an honorary doctorate from the Law Faculty of the University of Frankfurt . Fritsch was married on September 24, 1889 to Anna Martha von Hänisch (1867–1944), a daughter of the Prussian general Carl von Hänisch .
