Kora Kimpel

Kora Kimpel (born June 2, 1968 in Hilden ) is a German design researcher whose main research interests are interface and interaction design .

Career

Kora Kimpel studied industrial design with a focus on interface design in Braunschweig and Barcelona . She did her diploma at the HbK Braunschweig with Holger van den Boom. From 1999 to 2001 she was Design Director Online Strategy at MetaDesign Berlin. Since 2004 she has been teaching the basics of design with digital media at the Berlin University of the Arts as a professor . There she was 1st Vice President from 2012 to 2015. Since 2008 she has been on the board of the German Society for Design Theory and Research. Since 2015 she has been part of the management team of the hybrid platform , a transdisciplinary project platform of the TU Berlin and the UdK Berlin for researching promising topics and questions.

Research areas

Kora Kimpel's research focuses on digital transformation and the development of exploratory, user-centered research designs. In her research she explores the possibilities of the digital medium  from physical computing to generative design.

  • 2011: Evolving Books - competition of the Berlin Senate as part of the Future project together with Cornelsen Verlag
