Kornelia Kunisch (* 17th October 1959 in Lubben as Kornelia Elbe ) is a former German handball player .

Career

Kornelia Kunisch started playing handball at TSG Calbe . In 1973 she moved to SC Magdeburg . She remained loyal to the club until 1990 and was able to achieve numerous national and international successes during this time. GDR national trainer Peter Kretzschmar called her to the GDR selection . For the women's national team of the GDR Kunisch played 200 international matches in which she threw 675 goals. In 1983 she was elected handball player of the year . After the reunification she went to TuS Eintracht Minden in the handball league . In 1997 she ended her Bundesliga career and moved to the regional division VT Bückeburg . With the team, she rose to the 2nd handball Bundesliga North in 2001 , but then only played the team's home games.

Kornelia Kunisch is a qualified sports teacher and works as a physiotherapist in Minden . On the side she trains the C-youth of GWD Minden . Her son Christopher plays for GWD Minden in the 3rd division .
