The Kosonsoy ( Uzbekistan ; kirghiz Касансай Kasansai ; Russian Касансай Kassansai ) is a right tributary of Syrdarja in Kyrgyz area Jalalabat and in the Uzbekistan Namangan Region .
The Kosonsoy rises in the south of the Chatkal Mountains . In the upper reaches he also bears the name Chalkidysai (Чалкидысай). It flows in an easterly direction through the mountains. Before leaving the mountains, it is dammed up by the Kasansai dam . After reaching the Ferghanatals the Kosonsoy turns south, he crossed the border into Uzbekistan, flows through the eponymous town Kosonsoy , continues its course towards south, passing the city To'raqo'rg'on and flows west of the provincial capital of Namangan right side in the flowing west Syrdarya .
The Kosonsoy has a length of 127 km. It drains an area of 1780 km². At the settlement of Baimak (Баимак), 52 km above the mouth, the mean discharge (MQ) is 11.6 m³ / s. Part of the water is used for irrigation .
