Krach is a German band from Greifswald . Musically, the band mixes rock and pop with ska , punk , jazz and reggae elements. The lyrics are mostly German , some are English .
Band history
The band was founded in the summer of 1997 by Tobias Reinsch (vocals), Arne Last (guitar), Gunnar Last (then bassist) and Sascha Schmid (née Hamann) (drums) as an Oi-punk band. Over the years Thomas Welzel (trumpet) and Tilmann Holsten (saxophone) joined the band as wind players. In 2002 Thorsten Reul completed the brass section on the tuba. In 2002 bassist Gunnar Last left the band and Jan Fischer took his place. In 2014, Sascha Schmid (drums) announced his departure from the band, and Tom Zeschke became his successor. Björn Nutzel has been the band's drummer since 2018.
Krach's music developed steadily away from punk and Oi! -Punk, towards Ska and Reggae. At times the band referred to their style of music as "Ska-Punk-Jazz-Reggae". Since 2012, the term "Offbeat Rock 'n' Soul" has been circulating as a genre name.
Collaborations
In 2006, the band produced in collaboration with the Theater Vorpommern the musical " Little Shop of Horrors " by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman , under the direction of Austrian Thomas Enzinger and the musical direction of Thomas Bloch Bonhoff . It was performed regularly in the Greifswald , Stralsund and Putbus theaters from December 2006 to December 2008 .
