The power station Bayswater ( English Bayswater Power Station ) is a coal-fired power station in New South Wales , Australia . It is located around 100 kilometers northwest of Newcastle between the towns of Muswellbrook and Singleton in the Hunter Valley , an area with many coal mines . The power plant is owned by AGL Energy also operated and used by AGL Energy.

Lake Liddell , about a kilometer away , was created as a cooling water reservoir . The water comes from the Hunter River . Together with the Liddell power station on the shores of the lake, one kilometer away, the Bayswater power station produces around 30% of New South Wales' energy needs.

Data

With an installed capacity of 2.64  GW , Bayswater is one of the most powerful power plants in Australia. Annual generation fluctuates: in 2009 it was 15.176 billion  kWh and in 2005 it was 16.867 billion kWh. The consumption of hard coal varies accordingly: in 2009 it was 7.2 million t and in 2005 it was 8.05 million t. Bayswater is used to cover the base load .

Power plant units

The power plant consists of a total of four units that went into operation from 1985 to 1986. The following table gives an overview:
