The Kranenkasper nature reserve is located in the area of the city of Lippstadt in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area extends north of the core city of Lippstadt and west of Lipperode . The Boker-Heide Canal runs on the northern edge and the B 55 on the eastern edge . The 12.03 hectare nature reserve Margaretensee extends northeast .

Since 2006, a 7.37 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Lippstadt under the code number SO-088.
