The Großes Holz nature reserve is located in the city of Lippstadt in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area extends west of the core town of Lippstadt between Hellinghausen and Overhagen . The Gieseler flows to the north and east and the Lippe to the north . The state road L 636 runs south .

Since 2006, a 52.34 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Lippstadt under the code number SO-086.
