The Bad Arolsen GmbH hospital has been a subsidiary of the Gesundheit Nordhessen Holding (GNH AG) since January 1, 2004, based in Bad Arolsen ( Waldeck-Frankenberg district ). Around 6,000 inpatients are treated in the hospital every year. There are also around 15,000 outpatient treatments, examinations and operations.
history
The idea of founding a hospital in Arolsen goes back to the Waldeck Secret Finance Councilor Marc von Stockhausen and the Privy Councilor Keusler. In 1844, they asked Prince Georg Heinrich von Waldeck and Pyrmont to buy the pottery house and set up a country hospital there. The prince approved this proposal in 1845 on condition that a detailed plan be drawn up for the hospital. The hospital was to be operated by a foundation to which the building was given free of charge.
In 1851 the hospital went into operation with the inventory of the municipal infirmary.
In 1863 a new building was completed next to the pottery house. Princess Helene raised the funds for the new building . In 1873 the pottery house was demolished because it was in disrepair and replaced by a new building. The hospital was also named Paulinenhospital (in honor of Duchess Pauline von Nassau ) during this period .
As one of the first hospitals in Germany, the Paulinenhospital received an X-ray machine in 1903 at the instigation of the director Gottfried Mannel .
In 1959 the city of Arolsen took over the sponsorship of the foundation. In order to secure the existence of the hospital, the city decided in 2003 to sell the hospital to Gesundheit Nordhessen Holding. The sale was completed on January 1, 2004.
