Disease is a metal band founded in July 2011 from St. Johann im Pongau in the Austrian state of Salzburg .

history

In the summer of 2011 Anton (Tony) Gassner and Christian Präauer founded the band Krankenkasse. Soon Pearcy Haubenwaller on keyboard and Dave Knoll on guitar completed the band. The first EP Menschenfänger was released on November 11th 2011 under their own direction. A music video for this song was released in spring 2012 as an in-house production.

In the winter of 2012, Knoll and Haubenwaller decided to leave the band for personal and professional reasons. With Roy Preissler as the new guitarist, the group realigned itself. The debut album Sanatorium was recorded with the new line-up. In addition to the first six tracks from the EP Menschenfänger , which were completely revised for the album, the album also included six new tracks. Sanatorium was published on November 1, 2013 via Echozone .

The single Krampus , released in 2015, preceded the second album Saat des Böse. Another video was released for this single. The album was mastered by Krischan Wesenberg from Rotersand . Saat des Böse was released on November 11, 2016 via the Rimix label.

In May 2018 the band released their third album entitled Cerberus , which was again released on the Rimix label. Critics praised the album as a musical and lyrical advancement. For the title song Cerberus , a music video was shot in collaboration with David Prokop. The studio work on the fourth album started in spring 2019.

style

The group's texts are all written in German. Illness describes their style as a "symbiosis of classic and dark industrial metal", while the group locates itself in dark metal . In reviews, however, the music is often attributed to the New German Hardship . Emphasis is placed on the amalgamation of metal with melodies from the classical period, which disease itself calls for, which disease integrates as a fixed stylistic device. Contrary to the comparative figures Rammstein or Ost + Front , the music is less oriented towards Groove Metal . The music of Illness tends "more towards classic heavy metal " and "doesn't just let riff walls roll away". On the third album Zerberus , the band acted more with typical groove elements and choirs.
