geography
The river rises as Błędzianka (German: Blinde ) from the Jezioro Werselskie (Gmina Przerośl ) in the Polish Podlachian Voivodeship , initially describes an arc to the southwest, enters the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship northeast of Przerośl and thus flows through the former East Prussia the Rominter Heide , a nature reserve on the Polish-Russian border and a traditional hunting area , crosses the border to Russia , picks up the Chornaya coming from the left and flows away in a north-north-west direction until it flows into the Pissa at Gussew (formerly Gumbinnen ) .
The German name Rominte is derived from Prussian romus / ramus : "calm", "sittig".
