The village is one of 25 districts of the Baden-Württemberg community of Fichtenau in the district of Schwäbisch Hall and is located about two kilometers west-southwest of the village of Wildenstein , in which the Fichtenau municipal administration is based.

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1315 in a document under the name Crettenbach , which corresponds to the meaning of Bach with toads . Krettenbach initially belonged to the Franconian aristocratic family von Crailsheim , after several changes of ownership, the imperial city of Dinkelsbühl held almost all community rights from 1723 at the latest and thus exercised village and community rule over the village. Belonging to the Dinkelsbühler Landgebiet ended in 1802, when the imperial city was robbed of its independence and was taken over by the Kingdom of Bavaria . 1803 came Krettenbach by an exchange of territory to the Prussian Ansbach-Bayreuth it was later, but three years of 1806 through the Treaty of Schönbrunn forcibly carried cession of the principality Ansbach again Bavarian. With the border treaty between Bavaria and Württemberg , the place then fell to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1810 .
