Kreuzkirche Oberndorf

The Kreuzkirche is the Evangelical Lutheran parish church of Oberndorf , a district of Schweinfurt . The parish belongs to the Deanery Schweinfurt .

history

The church stands on the site of a medieval moated castle . The tower and choir date from the 13th century and were part of the castle chapel . The nave was built from 1938 to 1940 by Gottfried Dauner and Horst Schwabe.

Interior of the Kreuzkirche

The choir faces south, which is unusual for the Middle Ages. The tower with the Welscher hood is on the east side of the nave. Behind the altar is a wooden crucifixion group . The stone pulpit with a relief of Christ crucified was created in 1577. The church has a surrounding wooden gallery . The organ on both sides of the round window stands at the front .
