The war medal was on December 2, 1873 Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary donated the occasion of his 25th jubilee and was able to all military personnel of k. armed forces who took part in one or more campaigns in the years 1848, 1849, 1859, 1864, 1866, 1869, 1878, 1882, as well as in the military operations during the Chinese Boxer Rebellion 1900 to 1901.

Appearance

The round medal made from the bronze of captured artillery shows the donor's head turned to the right. All around FRANZ JOSEPH I. EMPEROR V. AUSTRIA, KING V. BOHEMIA ETC. APOST. KING V HUNGARY . On the reverse, a wreath of laurel (left) and oak branches (right), which is open at the top, encompasses the three-part inscription DECEMBER 2, 1873 .

The ribbon is cross-hatched in yellow and black, bordered by a black side stripe and finished with a yellow border.

The award was worn on the triangular ribbon on the left chest.

The medal was not awarded during the First World War .
