Baron Rudolf Lenk von Wolfsberg (born August 11, 1834 in Mainz , † March 25, 1907 in Vienna ) was an Austrian officer ( Lieutenant Field Marshal ) from the Lenk von Wolfsberg family .

The son of Feldzeugmeister Wilhelm Freiherr Lenk von Wolfsberg came to the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt on October 1, 1846 , was appointed lieutenant when retired and transferred to the pioneer corps. From June 3, 1854, he was assigned to the general staff the baron was admitted to the war school on November 5, 1855 by letter of the highest order due to his achievements. After completing military school, he was promoted to first lieutenant in the 2nd Feldjäger Battalion on October 25, 1857 , assigned to Hungary for military mapping work in 1858/1859 and promoted to captain on April 8, 1859 . Rudolf participated as a general staff officer of the General Staff Command in Verona in the campaign in Italy in 1859 and was seriously wounded in the meeting of Trautenau .

After the peace treaty, Lenk came to the national descriptive office, in 1861 to the General Staff Department of the 3rd Corps, from September 1, 1863 in Infantry Regiment No. 1, and then in 1865 to the Railway Office of the General Staff. This activity was interrupted by his participation in the campaign of 1866 with the Northern Army and, because of his bravery, he was awarded the Military Merit Cross with the war decoration (KD.) On October 3, 1866 and on October 12, 1866 for his self-sacrificing activity, prudence, as well as for his other services during the war era with the Most High Commendation. On December 1, 1866, transferred back to the Emperor Franz Joseph No. 1 Infantry Regiment, he was transferred back to the General Staff on July 1, 1867. On July 4th of that year he advanced to major of the general staff in the corps and on May 1st, 1872 was made lieutenant colonel in field artillery regiment No. 13. Thereafter, Rudolph was chief of staff at the 1st Troop Division Command in Vienna, where on May 1st, 1873 the Honoring with the war medal followed. On March 25, 1875 he was appointed artillery chief in the 18th Infantry Troop Division and with the rank of Colonel from May 15, 1875 , and temporarily head of the office for the military description of foreign countries. Then he was transferred to the artillery staff and appointed artillery chief of the 18th infantry troop division at the military command in Zara (Zadar) , then on July 27, 1878 to the stage commander in (Bosanski) Brod . In recognition of his excellent service in the occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina , he was awarded the Order of the Iron Crown 3rd Class with War Decoration on December 3, 1878 .

Lenk was appointed artillery director at the General Command in Graz on April 2, 1880 and promoted to major general on November 1, 1880 (with rank from May 8 of the year) and artillery director at the 3rd Corps on January 1, 1883. Finally, on March 9, 1885, he was promoted to commandant of the 30th Infantry Troop Division in Lemberg , and with the rank of October 25 of that year, promoted to field marshal lieutenant on this post.

Since February 1, 1888, due to illness with a waiting fee, the baron retired on August 1, 1893 and retired to Troppau .

Rudolf Lenk von Wolfsberg married on January 8, 1866 in the cathedral parish of Graz Hemma (born June 27, 1844 in Klagenfurt ; † July 31, 1867 in Vienna), daughter of the regional court president Eduard Ritter von Josch (July 28, 1799 in Schwadorf ; † April 18, 1874 in Graz ), then on February 19, 1873 in Purgstall Paula Freiin Wittenbach von Rotten- und Thurnstein (* July 2, 1849 in Purgstall; † October 11, 1918 in Vienna). Both marriages remained childless.
