Krijn de Kooning (* 1963 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch installation artist .

biography

De Kooning studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam from 1983 to 1988 and was a participant in De Ateliers in Haarlem from 1988 to 1990 . He studied from 1991 to 1992 at the Institut des hautes études en arts plastiques . From 1996 to 1999 he was a part-time university professor . First he taught at the AKI in Enschede and then at the École régionale des beaux-arts de Rennes in Brittany.

Krijn de Kooning has been creating art in public spaces and installations since the early 1990s . His works are often temporary and always related to their surroundings. The art of Krijn de Koning can be located at the interface between architecture and sculpture , often accessible to the recipient and thus related to the human dimension.

Krijn de Kooning's constructions are painted in different, mostly light colors. The building material is completely covered by the colored surfaces. The color structures are reminiscent of a labyrinth of walls, passages and windows. One example of this is the installation Dwelling from 2014. The surface of the Façade plant from 2012 consists of the building material, which is provided with blue colored areas at irregular intervals.
