Krishna Poonia (born May 5, 1982 in Agroha , Haryana ) is an Indian discus thrower .

At the Asian Athletics Championships in Incheon in 2005, she won bronze. In 2006 she finished fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and took bronze at the Asian Games in Doha . Another bronze medal followed at the 2007 Asian Championships in Amman.

At the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka, she was eliminated in qualifying as well as at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and at the 2009 World Cup in Berlin. At the end of the 2009 season she won her third bronze medal in a row at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou.

In 2010 she won the first gold medal in track and field for the host country in these competitions since 1952 at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi . She won bronze again at the Asian Games in Guangzhou .

She finished seventh at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

She set her personal best of 64.76 m on May 5, 2012 in Wailuku .

Krishna Poonia is trained by her husband Virender Singh Poonia. In 2010 she received the Arjuna Award .
