Trondsen, who started for the Byåsen IL and the Strindheim IL , had his first international success at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1997 in Canmore . There he won the bronze medal with the relay. In addition, he was ninth over 10 km classic. The following year won the bronze medal over 30 km classic and the silver medal with the relay at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Pontresina . In January 2000 he ran his first race in the Continental Cup in Nybygda . There he finished 36th over 10 km classic. He made his debut in the Cross-Country World Cup in March 2000 in Lahti , which he finished in 46th place in the sprint. In his second appearance in the World Cup that same month in Oslo , he got his first World Cup points with 15th place in the sprint. In January 2002 he achieved his first podium finish in the Continental Cup with third place over 10 km classic in Otepää . The following year he won the classic Continental Cup in Keuruu over 30 km . In the 2006/07 season he came in the points three times in the World Cup. With the sixth place in the sprint in Drammen, he achieved his best placement in the individual World Cup. In the Scandinavian Cup he achieved four top ten results, including second place over 10 km classic in Jõulumäe , second place in the overall standings. He completed his last international race in January 2008 at the Scandinavian Cup in Tolga , which he finished in 28th place in the skiathlon . In addition, Trondsen was Norwegian champion in 2001 with the relay of Byåsen IL and 2006 and 2007 champion with the relay of Strindheim IL.
