The Eurocoaster is a type of coaster from the Romanian shipyard Șantierul Naval Tulcea.

history

The ships were delivered in 1999 and 2000. Seven units were built for the shipping company M. Lauterjung in Emden , and one unit for the Rhine, Maas and See shipping offices in Duisburg .

description

The ships are from a four-stroke - eight-cylinder - diesel engine of the manufacturer Deutz MWM (type: SBV 8M 628) with 1,500  kW power driven. The motor acts on a fixed propeller via a reduction gear . The ships reach a speed of 12.5  knots . They are equipped with a bow thruster with 192 kW power.

Two diesel generators, each with a Scania diesel engine (type: DS 995 M03S) with an output of 195 kW, are available for power generation. The emergency and harbor generator is driven by a Valmet diesel engine (type: 420 DSG) with an output of 70 kW.

The deck superstructures are located in the rear of the ships. The wheelhouse is separated from the flat deckhouse and is hydraulically height adjustable. The masts of the ships can be folded down so that the ships can pass under fixed bridges over rivers and canals. There is space for seven crew members on board .

There is a hold in front of the superstructure , which is closed with folding hatch covers consisting of eight segments . The hatch covers can be moved hydraulically. The cargo area is 59.66 m long, 9.30 m wide and 6.75 m high. It is box-shaped over a length of 51.81 m. It tapers in the front area. The capacity of the room is 3745.2 m³. The ships are equipped with two bulkheads with which the hold can be divided. The bulkheads can be erected in eight positions. If they are not needed, they can be parked at the end of the hold. This reduces the usable length of the room by about one meter.

The tank top can be loaded with 15 t / m², the hatch cover with 1.56 t / m².

The ships are prepared for the transport of containers . The container capacity is 124  TEU (52 TEU in space, 72 TEU on deck). In addition to the standard dimensions (20 and 40 feet), 30, 48 and 49 foot containers can also be loaded. With homogeneous loading with 14 ton containers, 100 TEU can be loaded.

The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class 1B).
