Kristian Asmussen (born April 16, 1971 in Ramløse ) is a Danish handball player .

The 1.93 m tall goalkeeper played in Denmark for Ramløse IF, Hellerup IK and the Helsinge team. In 2001 he moved to the German handball league for GWD Minden . After two years he went to BM Altea in the Spanish league ASOBAL . After returning to Denmark, he played for Nordsjælland Håndbold , Olympic / Viking Helsingborg HK , Skjern Håndbold and again Nordsjælland Håndbold. In November 2011 he was loaned from SC Magdeburg to replace the injured Björgvin Páll Gústavsson for seven weeks. In September 2015 he was signed to replace the injured Marcus Cleverly . He ended his career after the 2015/16 season.

Asmussen made his debut in the Danish national team on August 8, 1995 against Norway and played 76 international matches . At the European Championships in 2002 and 2006 he won the bronze medal.
