Marcus David Cleverly (born June 15, 1981 in Hillerød , Denmark ) is a Danish handball player .

Career

Cleverly played for the Danish club Team Helsinge between 2001 and 2003. Then the handball goalkeeper stood for one season in the goal of the Danish first division club FCK Håndbold , with whom he took part in the EHF Challenge Cup . In 2004 Cleverly strengthened the German second division club TSG Oßweil . In January 2005 he moved to the second division TV Emsdetten . In the summer of 2009 Cleverly signed a contract with the Polish first division club Vive Targi Kielce . With Kielce he won the Polish championship in 2010 and 2012, as well as the Polish cup competition in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In February 2013 Cleverly left Kielce prematurely and joined the Swedish first division club LUGI HF . For the 2013/14 season he moved to the German Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg . From summer 2014 he will be in the gate of KIF Kolding Håndbold . With KIF he won the Danish championship in 2015. For the 2018/19 season he joined the Swedish first division club IFK Ystad HK .

Marcus Cleverly has made 35 appearances for the Danish national team so far . He was part of the squad of the Danish selection that took part in the European Handball Championship in Serbia in 2012 and won the title. In summer 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London .
