Kristian Widmer (born October 26, 1967 ) is a Swiss communications expert, entrepreneur , managing director and former film and television producer .

biography

Kristian Widmer holds a doctorate in law and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen .

In 1999 Kristian Widmer was appointed to the management of Condor Films AG and in 2003 was appointed managing director by the then main shareholder of the company, the media group Tamedia AG .

In 2005 he was supported by a major Swiss bank as the initiator of an MBO co-shareholder. In 2006, Widmer took over and integrated what is now the largest independent Swiss TV production company, FaroTV GmbH, into the Condor Group, which he led as the company's main shareholder from 2008 to the end of 2016.

Kristian Widmer worked as a writer, freelance editor and band manager of a seven-member jazz formation at the University of Zurich while studying law. In 1993 he made "XC-Cross Country" as director and producer, a TV documentary about a world record attempt in the then trend sport paragliding , which was supported by Swiss television as a minority production partner. He then worked for Vega Film AG and from 1994 for Condor Films AG . From 1996 he was responsible for major projects as production manager and later as executive producer throughout Europe, South America, the USA and Australia, etc. a. with Dani Levy , Michael Ballhaus and Xavier Koller and John Malkovich and Jean Reno .

After taking over the management, he worked at Condor a. a. Responsible for over 300 advertising films (including with Roger Federer , Martina Hingis and Stan Wawrinka ) and image films for Credit Suisse , Volkswagen AG and SBB as well as for the multiple award-winning documentary Building The Gherkin . In 2003 he produced the German feature film Drei gegen Troja on behalf of ZDF and in 2004, with co-producer Dominik Kaiser, the parody The Ring Thing , a Swiss low-budget parody of the US film The Lord of the Rings , which is alone in Switzerland 70,000 admissions to the cinema and successfully sold to Senator Film in Germany.

After selling his shares in Condor Films AG at the end of 2016, Kristian Widmer moved to the Swiss branch of Burson Marsteller AG in 2017 . There he took over the newly created position of Head of Strategy. After the company's merger with Cohn & Wolfe, Widmer became a member of the Management Board and Strategic Board in 2019.

Widmer is the initiator of the online magazine Filmpuls and has been a member of the Swiss Film Academy since 2008 and of the Swiss Management Society for Leadership Excellence since 2011.
