Kristiane Weber-Hassemer

Kristiane Weber-Hassemer (born July 10, 1939 in Berlin ) is a former German judge. She was the presiding judge of a criminal senate at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main . From 2001 to 2012 she was a member of the German Ethics Council , of which she was chair from 2005 to 2008.

Life

From 1960 to 1964 Kristiane Weber-Hassemer studied law , political science and sociology in Tübingen and Hamburg . In 1964 she passed her first and in 1969, after a baby break, her second state examination in law in Hamburg. From 1969 to 1976 she worked as a lawyer in Hamburg with a focus on labor law , corporate law and criminal law . In 1976 she became a judge in Frankfurt am Main for criminal law, press law, copyright law and civil law . In 1986 she moved to the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main and took on activities in various civil senates, tasks in the administration of the regional justice system, human resources, the affairs of lawyers and notaries as well as press work.

From 1990 to 2002 Kristiane Weber-Hassemer was a member of the Frankfurt working group for criminal law, from 1990 to 1995 she was a member of the ethics committee of the State Medical Association. In 1998 she was a member of the study group for press law and freedom of the press and from 1994 to 2004 she was presiding judge at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main (criminal senate) and press spokeswoman for the Higher Regional Court with a four-year break from 1995 to 1999. During this time she was State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Justice and for European affairs . In addition, she was chair of the judicial reform working group of the German Association of Women Lawyers .

She was married to the former Vice President of the Federal Constitutional Court , Winfried Hassemer , until his death in 2014 .
