Kristijan Đurasek (born July 26, 1987 in Varaždin ) is a former Croatian cyclist .

Career

Đurasek started his international career in 2006 with the Slovenian Continental Team Perutnina Ptuj . By 2018 he was Croatian adult champion seven times: three times in the U23 road race , once in the U23 individual time trial , twice in the elite road race and once in the elite time trial.

In 2013 he drove for the first time in a ProTeam , the Italian team Lampre-Merida : This year, after an attack on the final climb of the Lombard semi-classic Tre Valli Varesine, he achieved his greatest success to date. His first international stage race with the Tour of Turkey . He defended his lead on the last stage despite stomach problems and a slight fever. In the same year he won a stage of the Tour de Suisse , and in 2018 a stage of the Tour of Croatia .

In 2016 Kristijan Đurasek started the road race at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and finished 18th after finishing 68th at the Games in London four years earlier.

As part of the investigation of the "Operation Aderlass" around the German sports doctor Mark Schmidt , Đurasek came under suspicion in May 2019 of having violated the anti-doping regulations, in particular through blood doping . It was therefore banned for four years by the UCI World Cycling Association in November 2019 . Violations were found in the period from 2016 to 2019.
