Kristin Merle

Kristin Merle (* 1974 in Siegen ) is a German Protestant theologian . She is Professor of Practical Theology at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Merle studied Protestant theology in Heidelberg and Berlin . She passed the first theological examination ( Evangelical Church of Westphalia ) in 2001. From 2002 to 2005 she was a research assistant in the DFG- funded project “Media Religion”, Practical Theology, Humboldt University Berlin . In 2006 she was a research assistant at the Seminar for Practical Theology, HU zu Berlin. In 2006/2007 she received a PhD scholarship from the State of Berlin (NaFöG).

In 2007/2008 Merle was a research assistant at the Chair of Practical Theology with a focus on poimenics and pastoral theology at the University of Tübingen . From 2008 to 2010 she completed the vicariate in Stuttgart-Vaihingen . After her doctorate in 2009 and the doctoral prize in 2010 from the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen, the theologian passed the second theological examination in 2010 ( Evangelical Church in Württemberg ) and was then ordained pastor .

From 2010 to 2011 she was pastor in the dean's office in Tübingen and a research assistant at the chair of practical theology with a focus on poimenics and pastoral theology . From 2011 to 2018 she was a pastor of the regional church assistant at the Chair of Practical Theology. After the pastoral psychological training in pastoral care (KSA) certification in 2013 and her habilitation in 2017, she was a guest lecturer at the Theological Faculty of the University of Oslo .

From 2017 to 2018 she was a substitute for the Chair of Practical Theology in Hamburg . Since October 1, 2018, she has held a W3 professorship for practical theology with a focus on poimenics and homiletics at the University of Hamburg .

Her research and interests are religion and the public, sermon and politics, mediatization of religion and religiosity, pastoral care and empirical religious research.

Kristin Merle has also been a university preacher since December 2018. In this function, she conducts church services together with students from the University of Hamburg. She succeeds Hans-Martin Gutmann and Sonja Keller , who held the office as substitute.
