Kristina Hubener

Kristina Hübener (born January 1956 ) is a German historian . She is the author and editor of numerous publications, particularly on the history of the Brandenburg region.

Life

After graduating from high school, she studied history and German at the Potsdam University of Education from 1975 to 1979 . After five years of work in school, she received her doctorate there in 1987 with a thesis on communal politics of the KPD in the Brandenburg provincial parliament and in the Potsdam city parliament (1919–1933). From 1991 to 2020 she was a research assistant at the Historical Institute of the University of Potsdam - first at the Professorship for Brandenburg State History, then at the Professorship for Modern History, now professorship for History of the 19th and 20th centuries. Century. From 1992 to 1995 she received a Humboldt and Krupp scholarship for the project “The Welfare System of the Brandenburg Provincial Administration in the Empire”, during which she also did a research stay at Duke University , NC in 1994 and 1995 , including a visiting professorship .

Since 1996 she has been the managing director of the Brandenburg Historical Commission and between 2005 and 2019 she headed the medical history department at the professorship for modern history at the Historical Institute of the University of Potsdam. In this function, she excels as the editor of several series of publications, including the Brandenburg Historical Studies and the series on the history of medicine. Through her publications she has made a significant contribution to research into the history of the Brandenburg state, in particular the history of administration and medicine.
