Life

Kristoffer Kristoffersen was the son of Kristian Friedrich (1871–?) And his wife Sophia Beate (1872–?), Both of whom came from the Moravian Brethren . On September 11, 1927, he married in Nuuk Dorthe Kristoffersen (1906-1976). Together with their children Simon (1933–1990), Sara (1937–2008), K'itura (* 1939) and Karl (* 1943), the couple formed a family of artists who worked with soapstone figures .

Kristoffer Kristoffersen began carving soapstone in the 1950s when hunting yields were decreasing. He taught his wife and children, so that soon the whole family was working as a sculptor. The family had their own quarry to get the material for art. Kristoffer Kristoffersen's works are traditional and tend to be grotesque . They were issued in Denmark in 1986.
