Kroetzmühle is a district of the Wrestedt municipality ( Aue municipality ) in the Uelzen district in Lower Saxony .

Geography and transport links

The place is east of the core town Wrestedt and southeast of the district town of Uelzen .

The Esterau , a right tributary of the Stederau , flows past on the southwestern edge of the village. The Elbe Lateral Canal runs around 5 km west of the town .

, Is located close to the west, the 18 ha large nature reserve threateners wood .

The B 71 runs around 5 km north of Kroetzmühle.

The watermill

The Kroetzmühle, a former water mill, gave the place its name. It was first mentioned in a document in 1550 and was initially only set up as a Grützühle (hence the name). In 1580 the mill received a grinding process. In 1924 the mill building, which still stands here today, was built. In 1929 the undershot water wheel in case of need in the surge operation received from the mill pond additional water is replaced by a turbine. The mill was still in operation until 1987. The old facility has been completely preserved and is practically still operational.
