Krsto II. Oršić

Krsto II. Grof Oršić Slavetićki ( German  Christoph II. Count Orssich von Slavetich ; *  1718 in Gornja Stubica , †  February 19, 1782 in Zagreb ) was a Croatian nobleman , politician and military from the Oršić family . He was lieutenant field marshal in the Habsburg army, grand clan of the Zagreb county and assessor of the banal table ( assessor tabulae banalis) .

Life

Oršić was the son of Bernard III. Baron Oršić (* 1698; † 1723) and his wife Ana b. Patačić born. He studied in Bologna and Vienna , but in 1741 interrupted his law studies and devoted himself to a military career. He took part in several wars and numerous battles , including the Habsburg War of Succession (1740–1748) and the Seven Years War (1756–1763). Constantly promoted, he reached the rank of field marshal lieutenant on June 27, 1766.

During his life, he was appointed to high government offices, such as the large clan of the Zagreb County and an assessor of the Banal table. In 1744 he was raised to the rank of count by the Empress and Queen Maria Theresa .

Oršić married the Hungarian Countess Josipa (Josefa) Zichy (* 1725 - † 1778), with whom he had two sons, Adam (* 1748 - † 1820) and Franjo (Franz) (* 1758 - † 1807). The couple lived together from 1744 to 1778, most recently in Gornja Bistra Castle. After Josipa's death, Krsto retired and died in Zagreb in 1782.

As a scion and successor of a wealthy noble family, he owned many dominions , castles and palaces , including castles in Gornja Stubica near Donja Stubica , Gornja Bistra near Zaprešić , Slavetić , Severin na Kupi and Jurketinec , as well as palaces in Zagreb, Varaždin etc., all of them inherited from his sons.
