According to legend, the name of the village comes from the plant buckthorn (Ukrainian Крушина / Kruschyna). The village was first mentioned in 1851. During the German occupation, numerous residents were deported to the German Reich for forced labor . A church built in the 19th century was destroyed in Soviet times and rebuilt in the 1990s. Due to its proximity to the capital, the place is popular as a dacha settlement with the Kievans.
