Kult is a Polish musical group founded in 1982 by Kazimierz Staszewski and Piotr Wieteska. Their music has its roots in punk and new wave , but also contains elements from other styles such as reggae , psychedelic rock and jazz . She is known for her often provocative, sometimes poetic lyrics, and is one of the most influential bands in Poland in her field.
history
The group was formed in 1982 from Novelty Poland , Staszewski's previous band. The first concert took place in the Warsaw Club Remont . Her first record, Kult , was recorded in 1986; the selection of the pieces on it was heavily influenced by the censorship , which refused permission for many songs to be published. Kult often dealt critically with the socialist system in their texts at this time. After the fall of the Wall, their criticism was directed against the new rulers from politics, the church and the economy, which were perceived as pseudo-democratic.
