The Kunhar ( Urdu دریائے کنہار) is a river in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly: "Northwest Frontier Province", English North-West Frontier Province ).
The Kunhar rises 20 km east of the Lulusar lake. It flows through the Lulusar Dudipatsar National Park in a westerly direction. It flows through Lake Lulusar , about 48 km from the Kaghan Valley , and turns south. Glacier of Malika Parbat , Makra and Lake Saiful Muluk also contribute to the river. The Kunhar flows through the Kaghan Valley, the areas of Jalkhand , Naran Valley , Kaghan , Jared , Paras and Balakot in a southerly direction. The national road N-15 follows the course of the river. The Kunhar flows 7 km south of Muzaffarabad on the right side into the Jhelam .
The river is known for its trout .
