Kuno Herterich

Kuno Herterich (born April 4, 1880 in Munich ; † September 18, 1928 there ), was a German painter , designer and specialist teacher .

life and work

Kuno Herterich was the premarital son of the gardener's daughter Anastasia Sturm (1855-1905) from Munich, the second wife of the painter and academy professor Johann Caspar Herterich , whom he married after their son was born. From the father's first marriage there were two half-siblings, Rosa Anna Maria (* 1874); married to the painter and graphic artist Fritz Dannenberg (* 1871), as well as Karl Franz , who later became an actor and director of the Burgtheater in Vienna . Gerda Elise (1883–1884) and Hilda (1886–1935; actress), who died as a small child, followed as biological siblings.

After attending primary school, Kuno Herterich entered Munich's Maximiliansgymnasium in 1890 , which he left again in 1897 after having won several awards as a good gymnast. On October 13, 1898, his entry into his father's natural class at the Munich Art Academy , which he attended at least until the winter semester of 1903/04, is documented. He got a job as a specialist teacher at the advanced training school for stone and sculptors , was appointed real teacher in 1913 and finally professor at the municipal trade school in Munich. Of the works made according to his design, only a “multi-part buffet in French elm; glazed ”, executed by Peter Kaßeckert in 1909.

At the end of 1914 he was seriously wounded as a lieutenant in the reserve in Flanders ; as a captain he was awarded the Iron Cross First Class.

In 1923 he married Anna Maria Schmidt from Oldenburg (* 1889) in Munich; In 1924 the daughter Sibylle was born.
