Quarter milestone in Antonshöhe

The listed Saxon quarter milestone Breitenbrunn is one of the post mile pillars that were built in the first half of the 18th century in the Electorate of Saxony on behalf of Elector Friedrich August I of Saxony by Land and Border Commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner . It is located at the intersection of the streets Antonsthal - Rittersgrün and Breitenbrunn / Erzgeb. - Crandorf not far from the Antonshöhe district of the Western Ore Mountains community of Breitenbrunn in the Ore Mountains district .

history

The location of this quarter mile stone at the gun square on Poststrasse from Dresden via Chemnitz , Zwönitz , Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb. and Johanngeorgenstadt to Karlsbad had Zürner personally set in November 1722. It was originally about 600 meters further in the direction of Crandorf, not far from the former Kneipp sanatorium on Magnetenberg. In addition to the monogram AR, the quarter milestone bears the year 1724, the post horn and the row number 53.

In 1913 the stone was found lying on the ground near its original location and overgrown with grass. The Erzgebirgszweigverein Schwarzenberg transferred the stone to Schwarzenberg, where it was initially kept in the quarry, today's natural stage at Rockelmann. The stone was later set up again and the missing head piece was added.
