Kurt Brackmann

Kurt Brackmann (born May 3, 1912 in Marburg ; † February 28, 1992 ) was a German lawyer and Vice President of the Federal Social Court (BSG).

Life

Brackmann studied law and passed both state law exams. His main interest was social law . From March 1938 he worked at the Reich Insurance Office, of which he was a so-called permanent member from 1943 to 1945 . After the Second World War he worked for the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs in Hanover and was promoted to Ministerialrat there .

Kurt Brackmann was appointed Senate President at the Federal Social Court in Kassel on July 20, 1954 . There he was chairman of the 2nd Senate, which is responsible for matters relating to statutory accident insurance , until 1980 . On November 1, 1967, Brackmann was appointed permanent representative of the President and on January 1, 1970 he was appointed Vice President of the BSG. He held this office until he left in May 1980.

Brackmann was awarded an honorary doctorate . The “ Handbook of Social Insurance ” written by him is regarded as a standard work of social law literature.
