Kurt Deggeller

Kurt Deggeller (born February 5, 1947 in Bern ) is a Swiss musicologist and archivist . From 1984 to 1998 he was the first director of the Swiss National Sound Archives and then director of Memoriav until 2012 .

Career

After studying at the Institute for Musicology at the University of Basel , Deggeller worked as a research assistant at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis from 1974 . There he began editing the discography Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Documenta in 1980 . Deggeller then founded Tritonus Enregistrement SA in 1982 and worked with several radio stations. At the same time he took over the artistic direction of the record company Harmonia Mundi France .

Deggeller became director of the Swiss National Sound Archives in Lugano in 1984 and was entrusted with establishing it. There he took over the management of the project «Historical audio documents of Switzerland. Information, documentation, restoration ”in the National Research Program “ Methods for the Conservation of Cultural Property ”(NRP 16). Deggeller was director of Memoriav from 1998 until his retirement in 2012 . His successor at the Landesphonothek was Pio Pellizzari in August 1998 .

Deggeller was president of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) from 2002 to 2005 and chairman of the IASA country group Germany / Switzerland from 1997 to 2003 ; he was also a member of the advisory board of the Swiss Media Critic Association.
