Kurt Egger (linguist)

Kurt Egger (born May 14, 1940 in Innsbruck , grew up in Sterzing , South Tyrol ) is an Italian Capuchin and linguist . Egger is the author of numerous publications on multilingualism in South Tyrol. He took up teaching positions at various universities.

childhood and education

Together with his twin brother Wilhelm, Egger attended the lower secondary school of the Capuchins in Salern (municipality of Vahrn ) near Brixen , entered the Capuchin order and, after graduating from high school, studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Brixen. Kurt and Wilhelm Egger were ordained priests on June 29, 1965 in Brixen . From 1965 to 1969 Egger studied linguistics at the Università Cattolica in Milan with Aldo Agazzi.

Scientific activity

In 1984 Egger completed his habilitation at the University of Innsbruck . He then gave lectures in Innsbruck and later at the educational science faculty of the Free University of Bozen in Brixen, especially on language acquisition in preschool age. Egger was on the scientific advisory board of the Institute for Peace, Justice and the Integrity of Creation in Brixen, founded by his brother (today Institut de pace fidei ). Egger lives in the Capuchin monastery in Bozen .
