Kurt Ehrenberger (born October 20, 1933 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian entrepreneur and sports official . From November 8, 2008 to February 28, 2009, the then 75-year-old was interim president of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB).

life and career

Kurt Ehrenberger was born on October 20, 1933 in the Austrian capital Vienna. After a teacher as a wholesale merchant , he subsequently worked in various companies and in later years, from 1972 to 1995, ran a hardware wholesale business as an independent wholesale merchant. From 1975 to 2004 he was active as part of the commercial representation of interests and acted, among other things, as federal committee chairman for the hardware trade and federal chairman of the iron and hardware trade and as president of the fund of the Viennese merchants . Furthermore, Ehrenberger, a member of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce , was already active as an amateur football player in his youth, before he later appeared as a sports official. After serving as a board member of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) from 1972 , he was elected President of the Vienna Football Association (WFV) in 1990 and held this position for a period of 20 years until 2010. At the WFV He started as secretary in 1964 and rose through the class chairman and vice-president to the highest possible position in the association.

At the ÖFB, he worked in parallel from 1999 as Vice President behind the long-time President Beppo Mauhart and his successor Friedrich Stickler . One of his main activities during this time was the organization of the 2008 European Football Championship in Switzerland and Austria, with Ehrenberger, as President of the Organizing Committee of the City of Vienna, making a significant contribution to the organization of the tournament.
