Kurt Sigvard Elimä (born August 24, 1939 in Narken, former municipality of Korpilombolo ) is a former Swedish ski jumper and today's ski jumping trainer.

Career

Elimä grew up as the second eldest of twelve siblings and the son of Lorenz Elimä , who built the ski jump in Malmberget , and began to ski jumping at Koskullskulle AIF. In 1963 he won his first Swedish championship. At the Four Hills Tournament 1963/64 he surprisingly succeeded in sixth place in the New Year's competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen after finishing 58th in Oberstdorf . At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 , Elimä reached seventh place on the normal hill and jumped from the large hill to 29th place, tied with American David Hicks . In the same year he won his second Swedish championship. He was also able to win the championship in 1965. At the Four Hills Tournament in 1965/66 he was able to achieve his best individual tour result in Bischofshofen with fourth place. In 1967 he won the Swedish Championship again after a year break. At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , he jumped from the normal hill and the large hill to 37th place. In the same year he won the Swedish championship again.

In 1969 he was awarded the Stor Grabb Prize for his achievements . After his active career, Elimä started as a ski jumping trainer and coached Jan Boklöv , among others .

Elmä now lived in Malmberget and is a trainer at Koskullskulle AIF .
