Kurt Hering

Kurt Karl Moritz Hering (born February 6, 1880 in Nuremberg ; † April 21, 1969 in Nuremberg) was a German machine and apparatus manufacturer.

Life

After graduating from the humanistic grammar school in Nuremberg, Hering studied engineering at the Technical Universities of Munich and Darmstadt . In 1901 he became a member of the Corps Franconia Munich . After completing his studies, he became a designer at the Vulcan shipyard in Stettin in 1906 . From 1907 to 1908 he held the same function at Friedrich Krupp AG , Grusonwerk in Magdeburg. He then joined his father's company, AG A. Hering, machine factory and apparatus construction company in Nuremberg, where he became director and board member.

During the First World War, Hering served in the Bavarian Army and from 1916 to 1918 was head of the Army workshops in Lille and Charleroi . As a first lieutenant he was awarded the Iron Cross II. Class and the Military Merit Order IV. Class with Swords.

He was also the managing director of Stahl und Eisen GmbH Nürnberg-Berlin, a specialist company for flange welding and already a member of the Nuremberg World Economic Association.

Hering made inventions in the fields of heat management, the processing of insulating oils and automatic arc welding .
