Kurt Koelsch

Kurt Kölsch (born June 10, 1904 in Kaiserslautern , † July 29, 1968 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) was a German politician of the NSDAP and a writer. He was the Gau culture warden of the Gau Westmark .

Life

Kölsch was trained at the teacher training institute in Kaiserslautern under Ernst Christmann and passed his state examination in 1924. In his youth he was first in the DVP , then active in the national movement . There he was involved in the Völkisch Block . As a teacher in the Palatinate, he became acquainted with Josef Bürckel , who introduced him to the NSDAP -Rheinpfalz and the National Socialist teachers' association in 1930 . In December he was appointed head of the Race and Culture Department by Bürckel.

He was involved in the NSZ Rheinfront and was the author of the Völkischer Beobachter . He also worked as a poet; was chairman of the Literary Association of the Palatinate . He rose quickly and was given a leave of absence from the teaching post in order to act as cultural supervisor. He was responsible for the Kampfbund for German Culture , the Reich Association of German Stage , the Nazi cultural community , Kraft durch Freude and the Reich Chamber of Culture . He also became editor of the magazine Die Westmark .

In addition, he was a consultant at the Saar Palatinate regional office of the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda , head of the Combat League for German Culture of the Westmark, chairman of the Saar Palatinate People's Education Association , regional leader of the Volksbund for Germanism abroad and regional director of the Reich Chamber of Literature .

After the Second World War he first worked as a Wingert contactor , but was then hired again as a teacher. In addition, he worked as a writer who had primarily devoted himself to dialect . He was also active as a local SPD politician.
