The Kraase Church is a listed church building in Kraase , a district of Möllenhagen , in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ).

History and architecture

The flat-roofed hall church was built in field stone at the end of the 13th century and is one of the oldest field stone churches of its type. It stands outside today's village, surrounded by old trees, on a hill. The half-timbered gable and the windows were renewed in the middle of the 18th century. The long sides are divided by a supporting pillar each. The early Gothic south portal is originally preserved, the north portal was added. A painted flat beam ceiling was drawn into the interior. The restored paintings date from the 18th century. The former patronage boxhas been canceled. The church was rededicated in 2003 after a lengthy, extensive renovation.

The wooden bell cage stands separately, it was renewed in 2003. In it hangs a bell that was cast from bronze in the 15th century. In 1902 there were still two bells, one of which was cast in 1787 by JC Meyer in Neustrelitz and the other in 1841 by Johann Carl Ludwig Illies in Waren.

Opposite the church there is a cemetery , it is enclosed by a stone wall.

Furnishing

  • The pulpit's sermon chair stands on a block of brick.
  • The carved figures are works of the 15th century. A coronation of Mary and five figures of saints have been preserved.
  • There are four epitaphs , one from the C. Dähn family from 1721 and three from the Langhoff family from the mid-18th century.
  • The simple furnishings seemed to Friedrich Schlie to be of no consequence .
