from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kurt Kresse (born October 15, 1919 ; † unknown) was a German soccer player and soccer coach. In 1949 he played for ZSG Altenburg in the soccer league of the German Sports Committee , the top division of the GDR . As a coach, he led Dynamo Dresden in 1969 to be promoted to the GDR league . He is one of six coaches at Dynamo Dresden with multiple terms.

Since his club published on his 100th birthday that he "would have turned 100 on Tuesday", it can be assumed that he did not live to see that day.

Athletic career

Soccer player

The Thuringian runner-up ZSG Altenburg was one of the founding members of the DS soccer league , which was newly established in 1949 . The 29-year-old midfielder Kurt Kresse was on the squad for the 1949/50 season. However, he was only used nine times in the first eleven league games in which he remained goalless. After that he was no longer placed in the league. In the 1950/51 season Kresse was with the SG Deutsche Volkspolizei Weimar champion of the third- class Thuringia regional class and thus rose with the team in the GDR league . In the GDR league season 1951/52, in which 22 games were played, Kresse came as a half-right striker due to injury only on 18 missions, but was successful with five goals. After the SG Dynamo had achieved relegation, the team was relocated to Erfurt , played there from the 1952/53 season initially as SG DVP Erfurt, from March 1953 as SG Dynamo Erfurt. This season Kresse was only missing two league games, continued playing as a half-forward and was able to increase his goal rate to seven hits. At the end of the season, SG Dynamo was relegated to the district league and 33-year-old Kurt Kresse's career as a football player was over.

coach

After his career as a football player, Kresse began working as a football coach. First he worked for the Dynamo sports association , then took over SG Dynamo Dresden in the 1957 season (calendar year season) in the fourth-class Dresden district league . Kresse helped the team, who had previously been relegated from the 2nd GDR league , to the district championship and the district cup victory and finally ensured promotion to the II. GDR league. Then he was replaced by the new coach Helmut Petzold .

Nine game days before the end of the league season 1967/68, Kresse replaced Manfred Fuchs , whose assistant coach he had previously been, from the coach of the league club Dynamo Dresden in March 1968 . He took over the team at risk of relegation with only one point ahead of last place in the table. With only two wins in the remaining games, Kresse was unable to prevent relegation. With an almost unchanged team, he led Dynamo Dresden in 1968/69 to a sovereign rise again, which was managed with nine points ahead of second in the table. After the end of the season, Walter Fritzsch took over the position of responsible coach at Dynamo Dresden, while Kresse was transferred to the junior division. Although only 50 years old, he was later no longer a coach in the higher leagues. In 1970/71 he worked in Zanzibar , where he was in charge of the national champions and for a time the national team. Then he took over the junior team from Dynamo Dresden again.
