Kurt Loeffler

Kurt Löffler (born August 24, 1932 in Leipzig ) is a former German politician ( SED ). For many years he was State Secretary in the GDR .

Life

As the son of an employee, he studied economics at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and the Humboldt University in Berlin after attending secondary school with a high school diploma . In 1952 he became a member of the SED. Before he started his career as an official, he was u. a. worked at the Musik-Hochschule in Weimar , was there since 1959 a member of the SED district leadership in Weimar .

In 1961 he became head of the culture department at the Erfurt District Council . After an interim assignment from 1971 as an employee and finally as deputy head of the Culture Department of the SED Central Committee , he became State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture of the GDR government in 1973 (successor to Dieter Heinze ). In this capacity, he also headed the GDR State Martin Luther Committee in 1983 for Luther's 500th birthday and in 1987 the GDR Committee for the 750th anniversary of Berlin .

In July 1988 he was appointed as the successor to Klaus Gysi as State Secretary for Church Affairs at the Council of Ministers of the GDR and in November 1989 he was replaced in this function by Lothar de Maizière . From 1991 he worked temporarily as director for marketing, advertising and public relations for the East German Savings Bank Association .
